How hard is this?
Starting fig trees from cuttings is not difficult if done right. There are many ways to root out your cuttings. We at Figopolis have experimented with several rooting methods and we have settled on a method that works well for us. Subscribe to our Youtube channel so you don’t miss any of our rooting tutorial videos, or check back to this page for new videos.
Our first video for our new Youtube channel is posted below and shows the progress of some of our 1st year cuttings. The video was shot when the cuttings were approximately 8 months old, with many fruiting, some for the 2nd time already. With nearly 3 full months of growing left in this season (we are in 9b in Arizona) we expect monster growth for the remainder of the year. Our daily high temps have been over 110 degrees for close to 90 days this summer. Most trees would stop growing or die. Not our Figopolis trees though. Our trees took to the sun like college kids in the 1980’s. The extra sun, along with lots of water and food, kept our trees growing like we weren’t next to an open oven. All the extra sun meant our trees have super close node spacing.
How do we know our trees are healthy? It’s normal for older trees to make figs, but nearly 50% of our 1st year trees are making figs now, some are making LOTS of figs for a 1st year tree.
This is the 1st video for our new Figopolis youtube channel. Please Subscribe on youtube, to catch all our videos as they are released. We are just beginning down this path. Won't you follow along?
